Welcome to yet another wonderful fall foliage update for the Midwest! I have observed a few pictures online of northern Minnesota and so I officially declare that area peaking in fall color splendor this weekend! With the cool pattern ongoing colors really progress their way south across the region with most of our local CSWX area showing some colors, on my walk I saw some additional coloring but it is still pretty isolated at this time with roughly 10-20% color. The peak colors should spread to areas on central MN, northern WI, and UP of Michigan by next weekend and the continued seasonally cool temperatures support that. Models consistently have been hinting to another period of frosts and freezes in the general region next weekend after tonight's freeze in northern Michigan with a temporary moderation in temps following that. The next upcoming cold airmass should really bring those colors to peak in most of MI, WI, and MN by 2 weeks from today. For reference, I have a map below which tells you when I feel fall foliage should peak based on a number of factors. Other than all of that, have a great day and look forward to the fall. -TW
